Artist Statement

As an expressionist, I search for meaning through color, composition, line, texture and movement either on canvas or paper. I am deeply inspired by nature, but interested in the intersection between man-made and natural materials or images. This has led me to experiment with mixed media combining monotype with collage. I enjoy the challenging interplay of artistic elements without subject matter resulting in a piece that requires emotional and intellectual interaction between the viewer and the work. I also believe that a successful work of art is more than the sum of its parts, engaging viewers on different levels, inviting them to see the material world differently.
